This twenty-first century Craftsman style home was newly purchased, and the homeowners knew they wanted to totally gut and remodel the kitchen with a European flair. To open up the walls and ceilings as much as possible, walls had to move and new columns and hardwood flooring were on the to-do list.

With only a seventy-five day window to complete the job, Cliff Cinamon and his team got to work so the house would be ready in time to greet relatives for Thanksgiving. Cliff’s brilliant solution to turn their desires into a dream kitchen had to come to fruition perfectly and on the first try.

The standard kitchen quickly disappeared and the bones of the new look were put into place a piece at a time. A new roof was supported with a 20 foot beam and the result was a 16 foot height for the kitchen ceiling. A steel beam support in the middle of the living room needed to remain but be hidden in the new design under a wooden facade. “We had to do major load bearing structural work in order to set the beam and to widen the kitchen wall to the dining and living area,” Cliff explained.

Major electrical and plumbing changes required a number of trades to coordinate on the process.

The cool stainless and warm wood tones were carried through the new spaces, replacing a closed off plan with a very open living area.

The outcome is a blended Modern Craftsman and another award winner for Design and Remodeling Solutions. www.designandremodelingsolutions.com

Micalline Products Inc.

South Carolina’s leader in natural and engineered countertops

Micalline Products offers a unique array of services and products to a market that began in the Midlands, through the creative genius of its founder, Louis Williams Jr. Fifty years ago, he developed the high quality Micalline* cultured marble that adorned the homes and businesses of so many in Columbia.

Today, in addition to Micalline’s famous cultured marble showers, the company offers not only the standard granites, but exotic granite and marble that most places don’t have. Not like the standard colors, exotic stones are guaranteed to create a WOW factor. Their granite is available for viewing at “Slabville,” where hundreds of granite slabs from all over the world are on display. They also carry quartz from the best well known companies.

For unusual designs and configurations, their water sawjet is a state-of-the-art system that cuts accurately and smoothly regardless of the shape. That’s one reason Micalline is so well known for tub decks, shower surrounds, and kitchens. And when it’s time to install the new countertops, their installers are second to none.

For families, architects and designers seeking unique kitchen counter tops, islands, outdoor kitchens, reception areas, and special stone signs, Micalline can do it with perfection.

Micalline offers superb service from their experienced professionals who are very knowledgeable about the various stones and their suitability for different surfaces and countertops to their skilled installers who make seldom needed seams almost virtually disappear. It’s one reason why Micalline has remained successful since 1966.

And whether it’s new home construction or renovations to an existing home, it’s exciting to homeowners. It’s also important to make sure any upgrades add considerable value to your investment. That’s why more homeowners than ever are choosing high quality natural and engineered stone to add beauty and function.

In addition to homeowners, Interior Designers enjoy working with Micalline, because of their high standards and selections. Residential builders and architects are also among their many dedicated clients.

Last but very important is their good name. It’s just another reason why the family of Louis Williams continues to stand behind every product, design, and completed project.  www.micalline.com
