Visit by boat or land! D.W.’s Lakeside is in Chapin’s Timberlake Country Club and offers stunning views of Lake Murray along with delicious food and drink. The appetizer menu hosts unique fare like the Pimento Cheese Brulee (warm pimento cheese topped with caramelized brown sugar), and Belgian Endive Boats stuffed with Waldorf chicken salad. Traditional items are available too – hummus, low country crab cakes, caprese, etc. The dinner menu boasts an all-natural Duroc pork chop, a Black Angus ribeye, and a Black Angus filet. They’re open every day for lunch and dinner apart from Mondays. Consider celebrating on an alternative day or time – Taco Tuesday or Happy Hour. Call for a live music itinerary or get it to-go from Fusco’s Market, located in the same building.

Hendrix is closed on Sundays, but you can snag a reservation for the dining room, or choose the roof top bar, which is first come, first served for an alternative celebration day (Saturday, perhaps?). Find hand-crafted cocktails and a farm-to-table style menu with mouthwatering options made from local ingredients. Hendrix also comes with an amazing view of Main Street and plenty of shops to browse before or after your meal. Look no further than Tacos Nayarit for authentic Mexican cuisine. What started out as a food truck operation has transitioned to a brick-and-mortar location on Percival Road in Northeast Columbia. Tacos Nayarit is open on Sundays from 11 am – 9 pm and while indoor dining is limited seating, there is ample patio space. Whether you get the tacos, quesadillas, or something else from their extensive menu, the flavors coming from the kitchen are sure to tantalize the tastebuds. Want to round it things out with a dessert? Try the authentic flan.

Who doesn’t love breakfast, especially pancakes? Even more, who has visited The Original Pancake House and didn’t love it? This iconic restaurant is located on Forrest Drive in Trenholm Plaza and will have you coming back for more of their fresh juice, eggs, pancakes, French toast, and more. They will be open for normal hours on Mother’s and Father’s Day. Mother’s Day specials include strawberry pancakes, strawberry waffles, and strawberry French toast. Father’s Day specials include apple pancakes and a bacon lover’s breakfast. If breakfast (or brunch) is Mom or Dad’s favorite meal, head over to The Original Pancake House. A short wait is not unusual, but guests find it a pleasant one among the shops of Trenholm Plaza.

This iconic dive bar is a huge part of Columbia’s Main Street culture. Located in the basement of the ABC building, The Whig has amazing food and a unique atmosphere, full of character. They closed for a while during the pandemic but are easing their way back to open with their spot on the local dining scene still secure. After operating as reservation only for a few months, they are now accepting walk in business again with limited seating. The food is laid back, but fun. Menu options include chipotle pimento cheese fries, smoked gouda mac n’ cheese, the Whig burger, and a vegan black-eyed pea burger.
The Gourmet Shop

A Five Points staple since 1979, The Gourmet Shop serves brunch and lunch seven days a week. Choose from house made salads and sandwiches like their famous chicken salad, roasted shrimp salad, a variety of pasta salads, pimento cheese, and more. Their paninis are grilled to order and their wraps, cheese plates, charcuterie boards, and cocktails have made them a restaurant destination in Columbia for decades. Outdoor dining, indoor dining, call-ahead curbside pickup, carry out, and delivery are available. Check their website for details. The adjacent retail store offers cookware, tableware, pantry items, gifts, wine, cigars, and more – perfect for finding that special gift for Mom or Dad.

They are a whiskey-centric cocktail bar and Cajun-Creole restaurant located on beautiful, historic Main Street in downtown Columbia. The restaurant has mouth-watering meal options, bourbon flights, and an amazing cocktail, beer, and wine list that is sure to offer something for everyone. Note that Bourbon is closed on Sundays and Mondays but is a great option if you want to celebrate away from the mad rush of the Sunday crowds. Bourbon doesn’t take reservations and seats fill up fast. Arrive early to avoid a wait.

Terra is also closed on Sundays and Mondays but is a great option for an alternative celebration day. Reservations are available.

The restaurant is closed on Sundays but is a great option if you want to dine Monday through Saturday and avoid the crowds. It might be tempting to finish your entire meal but consider holding off for dessert. The blondie is worth the restraint.
