These folks do windows – and a whole lot more.
By Katherine Pettit
When Lieutenant Colonel Mike Hoos decided to retire after 23 years in the U.S. Army, he and his wife, Carrie, had specific goals in mind. First, they wanted to settle in a friendly Southern town, with excellent schools.
Simultaneously, Mike, a graduate of West Point with a degree in engineering and business, wanted to be able to use his skills for work that was rewarding and effective for his customers. During his military career, he served overseas in a number of countries, including Germany, Belgium, Kuwait, Russia, Bosnia, and Afghanistan. His management and leadership skills served him well.
Additionally, Mike wanted a business that would provide him with the opportunity to support other veterans in their civilian lives. As he researched what he would do, the Army offered classes to help him transition into civilian life. He considered owning a business, but opted to take a position with Amazon as an operations manager. “I wanted to learn more about business and explore different opportunities,” he explained. “Amazon was rewarding, but with 14-16 hour shifts, I had little time to spend with my family. The work-life balance was not what our family needed.”
He again looked at business ownership and worked with a franchise coach with The Entrepreneur’s Source, Matt Thornton. Mike examined six franchise opportunities that fit his skills, including Window Genie. “I spoke with the corporate team, as well as existing franchise owners and I was impressed with the family-like team and corporate culture,” he explained. “These folks are genuinely dedicated to every franchise partner’s success and they are extremely skilled in what they do. Plus, they offered excellent products and services, which was very important to me.”
It was a perfect fit as was the availability of the area of the Midlands including Lexington to Blythewood, and west to Newberry and the Lake Murray area. They had friends who were happy living in Chapin, on the shores of Lake Murray, and after investigating the schools, they made the decision to both live and work in this beautiful area.
With professional associates who are bonded and receive ongoing training, Window Genie offers streak-free window cleaning, lifetime guaranteed window tinting products, pressure washing and gutter cleaning services. They are fully insured, bonded and ready to provide the best in professionalism, customer satisfaction and job quality. In fact, much of their business comes from referrals by other customers.
You can see the difference when windows are professionally cleaned. They clean inside and outside, according to the customer’s preference. They also scrape the glass, removing build-up from a variety of sources. Their cleaning products are safe for the home and biodegradable. No ammonia or alcohol-based solutions (which can be destructive) are used. Windows can be cleaned on a regular schedule (twice a year is what most homeowners prefer).
Homes with lots of glass and windows offer stunning views and great light. Window tinting controls fading, glare and heat build-up, and eliminates hot spots in rooms. In addition to conserving energy, their window films provide 99% UV protection, and offer a uniform appearance. Maintenance expenses are reduced and for many, the added bit of almost undetectable shielding gives a feeling of enhanced privacy. Factory-backed warranties and a special scratch-resistant coating helps glass resist daily wear and tear, and a recent partnership agreement with 3M assures top quality window film for their jobs.
When gutters become clogged, costly damage to homes can occur, including cracked foundations and water problems. Scheduled gutter cleanings include customer discounts, and more important, help to avoid these common problems: Flooded basements, cracked foundations, insect breeding ground, and rotting wood. Also, homeowners on ladders and walking on roofs can be a dangerous exercise. Just like any profession, trained service professionals do the job more safely and quickly than any weekend handyman.
Low Pressure Cleaning
Window Genie’s house washing service takes on vinyl, stucco, or painted wood siding. It’s a safe process that literally takes years off a house that’s been hit with driving rain, blowing dirt, and creatures that like to share your home’s exterior. Most people are shocked at the improvement in appearance.
Decks, driveways, sidewalks, docks and outdoor structures will benefit from cleaning. Concrete and brick surfaces look dramatically better after being cleaned with Window Genie’s special equipment. And they also provide sealing, to keep the just-cleaned surfaces pristine, despite the weather.
Chem-Tec One is a sealant that acts as if you were adding concrete to the finish. It pushes out contaminents, and fills in the pores. More effective and more cost-effective than more general products, it’s also safe and attractive.
All of these products are carefully designed to be safe and effective, and the personnel who apply them are well-trained for accuracy and effectiveness.
“One of the aspects I really appreciate about the Window Genie corporate culture is their belief in assisting the community,” Mike explained. “Because of my personal connection with the military and our family’s appreciation for the work the military continues to do to protect our country, we give discounts to veterans, and work with them and their loved ones in any way possible.”
And there’s more. “A national program called Windows 4 Wishes is part of how we give back to our respective communities, through local charities, as well as well-known organizations like Habitat for Humanity, American Cancer Society, Wounded Warrior Project and Ronald McDonald House, among others.”
It follows Mike Hoos’ personal commitment that extends to everyone. His family is happily involved in their community and his company is serving hundreds of home and business owners, plus veterans and their families. “I loved my time serving our country and now, I can spend more time with my family, and still help others who gave their time to the United States through their military involvement. It’s a win for all of us!”
